How to Plan the Perfect Beach Villa Escape
From choosing the right coastline to the first barefoot morning
A great beach villa holiday feels effortless, but a little planning goes a long way. Here is how to choose well and arrive relaxed.
Start with the kind of days you want
Do you dream of swimming straight from the sand, of surf at dawn, or of a pool you never have to share? Write down three things that would make the trip perfect. They will help you choose between a beachfront villa, a garden bungalow or a cliff-top hideaway.
Check the season, not just the dates
Tropical coastlines have wet and dry seasons, windy months and calm ones. Look up the typical weather for your destination and month, and ask your host about sea conditions — calm water matters if you are travelling with children or hoping to snorkel.
Read the listing like a detective
- Is the beach access direct, or is there a road or steep path?
- Is the pool private or shared?
- Which rooms have air conditioning?
- How far is it to a shop, a café or a doctor?
A good host will answer these questions clearly and honestly.
Plan the first day, leave the rest open
Arrange your transfer and stock up on breakfast for the first morning. Then leave space. The best moments on a beach holiday are rarely the ones you scheduled.
